Accommodations are numerous and conveniently located, but are hard to come by in these busier seasons without a prior reservation. Whitefish is a quaint and magical town, and welcomes you to experience why so many visitors keep this destination high on their list.

The town of Whitefish, Montana sits next to Whitefish Lake and below Big Mountain Ski Resort, at the northwest corner of Flathead Valley. It is only 26 miles from Glacier National Park and within proximity to many scenic areas where you can enjoy the out-of-doors any time of year. The town itself is remote, active, and booming. It has a fantastic selection of high class restaurants, great live music, a plethora of boutiques and outdoor gear stores, and a variety of accommodations.

Summer time brings all sorts of visitors to the area. People keep their days busy by running rivers, hiking, fishing, camping, biking, horseback riding, golfing, sailing, and playing tennis. Trails scour hillsides and valleys leading to scenic overlooks, waterfalls, or mountain tops throughout Glacier National Park, the Swan Mountains, and the Whitefish Range. Whitefish Lake is less than one mile from downtown, at the base of Big Mountain Ski Area. This pristine mountain lake is 7 miles by ½ mile and is a great location for boating, lounging on the many beaches, and fly fishing for lake trout.

Whitefish is popular among many golf enthusiasts. There are eleven championship golf courses in the Whitefish and Flathead Valley area, one even right along the edge of Whitefish Lake. The valley was even voted one of the "50 Greatest Golf Destinations in the World" by Golf Digest. Golf courses in the area are known for their wonderful hospitality and all inclusive packages for golf and lodging.

The winters in Whitefish, Montana are magical. Everything is coated in white, and although busy, the area is serene. Although the town itself only receives about 70 inches of snow a year, the surrounding mountains are hit with over 300 inches of beautiful powder. Whitefish is located between to great ski areas. Big Mountain Ski & Summer Resort is just 7.5 miles away and seems to tower over the town, while Black Tail Ski Area is located about 40 minutes away along Flathead Lake. Big Mountain lures skiing and snowboarding enthusiasts to its 3,000 acres of terrain and 2,500 foot vertical drop. Half of the terrain is marked intermediate and lift lines somehow always seem to be non-existent. There is also a small cross-country skiing trail system at the base.

Winters in Whitefish tend to be relatively mild as the town is protected along the slopes of the Rocky Mountains. Visitors not only enjoy skiing and snowboarding, but groomed trails in the Whitefish Range lure cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, and snowshoeing. There are many remote backcountry areas were you can seek solitude away from the busy slopes of the ski hill. Come to Whitefish, Montana and enjoy the activity of your choice any time of year.
