If you are planning multi-day trip on horseback, you need to acquire a backcountry permit. Make sure to find out which campsites allow horses. The park recommends planning horseback riding vacations or pack trips outside of their busiest summer months, which run between July and mid-August. A few outfitters operate guided horse and llama pack trips OUTSIDE Glacier National Park boundaries in nearby Forest Service or Wilderness areas.
