Jetski & Personal Watercraft
With the advent of the first personal watercraft (PWC) by Kawasaki Motors in 1973, the JetSki® brand PWC made it easy for individuals and friends to enjoy high-speed fun across bodies of water without the expense of a full-size boat. As this form of boating became more popular, the brand became a verb, and the term "jetskiing" quickly gained popularity as the newest, most popular form of watersports on Flathead, and other regional lakes and large rivers.

During prime summer days, it's not uncommon to see dozens of personal watercraft zipping across the lake from bank to bank and near public beaches and marinas. The lake hosts many locations from which to purchase watercraft accessories, fuel, trailers and even daily or weekly rentals if you wish to learn how fun these can be.
As with any vehicle, whether on land or water, care should be taken to make sure adequate training is done with those who operate these crafts. Never operate them under the influence of drugs or alcohol, always be wearing a personal flotation device (PFD or life jacket) should you get separated from your craft, keep the craft' speed under your control, and always be aware of persons and other watercraft around you. And don't forget, always have a full tank of fuel when leaving the dock. No one likes feeling stranded in the middle of the lake, especially if inclement weather blows in leaving you unprepared.
