Glacier Park is a popular travel and tourism destination because of the natural beauty of the area and the untouched wilderness that surrounds the visitor from every side. The mountains are tremendous, covered in snow, and surrounded by mountain lakes and creeks. Most of the land has been left alone by people and remained in its natural state, due to its remoteness and the lack of settlers throughout the nineteenth century.
At the park there are plenty of opportunities for skiing, exploring terrain such as glades, alpine bowls, and ice fields. However, keep in mind that ski areas in the park are only suitable for people who are knowledgeable about traveling in avalanche zones. Always wear avalanche transceivers and be prepared at all times.
Hiking in Glacier National Park is also rewarding. The Columbia Mountains are steep and offer narrow valleys - this means there are only a scattering of easy hikes and many difficult ones.
