Blacktail Mountain Ski Area is located in the northwestern pocket of Montana. The resort lies above the town of Lakeside, Montana along the west shore of Flathead Lake. Surrounded by 1,000 acres of National Forest, the resort boasts 24 uncrowded, groomed runs covering 200 skiable acres. There are three chairs and a vertical of around 1,440 feet. The resort's trails are for skiers and snowboarders alike, and for all levels of ability.

The ski area is Montana's newest resort, and is ideal for families offering reasonable prices. The resort opens the beginning of December until mid-April, operating Wednesday through Sundays from 9:30am to 4:30pm. Blacktail has an annual natural snowfall of 250 inches with 70 percent of the mountain devoted to intermediate skiers.

Just minutes from the Blacktail Mountain Lodge are 40 kilometers of groomed trails for cross-country skiing. Generally the ski trail system terrain is rated easiest because most of the routes follow existing roadways. More experience and skill is required to descend between road systems. There are cross-country ski loops that are rated more difficult and most difficult.

The resort offers ski instruction for alpine skiing, snowboarding, and telemark skiing. Rental equipment for adults and children is available in the village area. Instructors and coaches are certified by the Professional Ski Instructors of America and the American Association of Snowboard Instructors. They excel at creating a learning environment filled with fun, safety, and improvement. No matter what age, gender, or ability you are, they can help in your skiing and snowboarding.

The friendly mountain positioned perfectly above Flathead Lake offers generous service and a spectacular setting for a ski resort. Visibility is unlimited most days, with 360 degree views of the Flathead Valley and Glacier National Park. The beautifully built lodge offers all the amenities you need, including fine dining in Muley's on the third floor of the lodge, as well as very affordable cafeteria style meals on the main level.
