Eureka Montana

Eureka is located on the Tobacco River in an area known as the Tobacco Valley or the Tobacco Plains. It was founded in the early 1900s as settlers moved north from Kalispell and Missoula and south from Canada, and was originally known as Deweyville. The Canadian fur-trapper and explorer David Thompson visited the Tobacco Valley in the early 1800s during his searches for a route to the Pacific Ocean.
The town has a total area of 2.6 sq. km (1.0 sq. mi), with none of it covered by water. There are 1,017 people, 431 households, and 252 families residing in Eureka. The population density is 388.8/km² (1,008.6/mi²). There are 494 housing units at an average density of 188.8/km² (489.9/mi²).
The racial makeup of the town is 96.76% White, 0.00% Black, 1.28% Native American, 0.20% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.59% from other races, and 1.18% from two or more races. 1.47% of the population are Hispanice or of any race.
