Because it is the highest point on the drive, do not be surprised if Logan Pass is downright chilly or enshrouded by clouds or fog — even in the summer. Temperatures can dip below 36 degrees. The sharp wind can be a nuisance as well, and has been known to deter many roadside picnics. If you should find yourself in these conditions, warm up and enjoy the views in comfort by ducking into the chalet-style visitors center located at the top of the pass.

The Logan Pass Visitors Center has various educational exhibits on display. The alpine ecology exhibit provides information about the conditions encountered by plants and animals that live above tree line. One-third of Glacier National Park exists in this environment.

The top of Logan Pass is the start of many classic Glacier hikes. Park your car in the Logan Pass parking area and walk to your trailhead. You can choose an easy and short hike, or a strenuous and extended one.
