Glacier National Park Programs

Glacier National Park offers a wide range of ranger led programs for the whole family. Activities include evening slide shows, guided hikes, boat tours, and Junior Ranger programs.

Ranger led activities begin in late spring and continue through the summer. These activities are typically conducted at Apgar, Goat Haunt, Logan Pass, Many Glacier, Saint Mary, and Two Medicine. When you enter the park, stop by a visitor center and ask for a copy of "Nature with a Naturalist," a park publication, which lists descriptions, times, and locations of all the ranger led activities.

• Rangers lead narrated hikes and walks several times a day during which you will learn about the flora, fauna, geology and history of Glacier National Park.
• Evening illustrated slide programs are offered at Fish Creek campground Amphitheater, Saint Mary Visitors Center, Lake McDonald, and Many Glacier Hotel.
• The "Native America Speaks" series is regarded as one of the best special programs offered in the park, and has been running for the past two decades. This program emphasizes the Blackfeet, Salish, and Kootenai cultural influences in Glacier. Tribal members give special evening campfire talks several times a week.
• The native campfire talks are held at the Apgar Campground and the Many Glacier, Two Medicine and Rising Sun campgrounds on the east side of the park. The talks generally begin at 8 p.m. and last about 45 minutes.
• The St. Mary Visitor Center hosts weekly native dance troupes during July and August.
