Glacier Park Lodge Golf Course

Looking for a sophisticated mountain adventure? Glacier Park Lodge Golf Course combines history and breathtaking mountain scenery with a nine-hole course. With fairways lined with lodgepole pines and quaking aspen, you'll definitely impress your buddies and woo your clients.

Glacier Park Lodge Golf Course was built in 1927 by Great Northern Railway tycoon, James J. Hill. Built along side the Glacier Park Lodge, the golf course was part of Hill's plan to attract tourists to the Flathead Valley and Glacier National Park on the railroad he was constructing from Minnesota to the Pacific Coast. Glacier Park Golf Course is the oldest grass greens golf course in Montana.

The course was designed by a New York architect and resembles other golf courses of that era. Because the course was built within the Blackfoot Indian Reservation boundaries, all nine holes are named after former chiefs of the Blackfoot Nation.

Before you tee-off, keep in mind that the par-36 course runs 3,300 yards and contains several tight and blind shots that might catch you off gaurd. Expect strong winds due to the fact that the golf course sits east of the Continental Divide.

If you did not travel with your clubs, you can rent them from the lodge. Golf carts and pull carts are also available for a small rental fee. If you are traveling with children, you might want to check out the Pitch & Putt golf course, which offers fun for the whole family.

Despite the occasional strong winds, you'll enjoy this challenging course with its wide fairways and spectacular views in all directions. Don't be surprised if you find yourself returning every year. The season runs from mid-May to mid-October.
