Fairmont is a popular, central location for skiers who wish to ski a variety of British Columbia's great ski centers. Panorama ski area is located only 40 minutes north, while the friendly Bavarian community of Kimberley and its ski area are only 60 minutes south of Fairmont. Fernie ski area, the Powder Skiing capital of the Canadian West, is another big favorite, located just 1.5 hours southwest.

Getting There: Located on Hwy. 93/95, 1 ¾ hours north of the Canadian/USA border and 3 hours west of Calgary, Alberta, in the British Columbia Rockies at the headwaters of the Columbia River. The resort is about 140 km (87 miles) north of the Idaho border. Adjacent to the resort, a 2,000 meter (6,200 ft.) airport welcomes private and charter aircraft up to the Boeing 737.
