Walk or hike alongside a ranger and learn about Glacier National Park from a naturalist. Hiking to Iceberg Lake, Wilbur Falls, Fishercap Lake, the Highline Trail and many many more amazing locations within the park. Let the rangers guide you to places off the beaten path.

Guided Snowshoe Walks

For winter 2012, the popular guided snowshoe walks will be offered again.

Walks will be on Saturdays and Sundays, 10:30 am and 1:30 pm

from January 7 through March 18, 2012. The walks will depart from the Apgar Visitor Center. Snowshoe rental is available at the Apgar Visitor Center or in the Flathead Valley adjacent to the park. Please call the Visitor Center on the weekends after 9:00 am to find out if conditions will permit the walk, 406.888.7939

Overview: Moderate trail walks, day hikes and extensive hiking trial loops to some of Glaciers most scenic locations off the beaten path. All with the guidance of a park ranger. Learn about the park features, wildlife and ask your own questions along the way.

When: Hikes are scheduled daily throughout the summer season of June to August. Weather and snow levels depending

Where: Several locations throughout the park such as Two Medicine Lake, Grinnell Valley and Iceberg Lake to name a few. Meeting locations are designated for each hike.

Fees: These are free activities provided to visitors from the national park service.

Details: make sure to check the times and meeting locations int he park newsletter or at each visitor center's list of events. Make sure to bring along sunscreen, walking shoes, water and a snack. Some of the activities can vary between moderate trail walking to 2 hour hikes to day long 4 mile loop hiking. Make sure you know the time commitment before heading out.
