Blacktail Mountain Winterfest
Blacktail Mountain located at the northwest edge of Flathead Lake is the home of the Blacktail Mountain Winterfest. The nearest town is Lakeside, Montana which is located on US Route 93. The Winterfest activities usually take place in late January or early February of each year. There are various activities on the mountain which include sleigh rides, dog sled rides, free sledding, Family Cup races, as well as others.
In conjunction with activities sponsored by the Lakeside Chamber of Commerce, there is something to do for everyone – from fun on the Mountain to fun in town. During the Winterfest, the lift tickets are sold for a reduced rate and everyone is encouraged to try out this small, unique ski mountain. This mountain is best suited for beginner to intermediate skiers.
The most unusual aspect of Blacktail Mountain is that the lodge and parking facilities are located at the top of the mountain. So, you can begin to enjoy the fantastic views the minute you get out of your vehicle. Blacktail Mountain offers a fantastic view of Flathead Lake. It is located between Missoula and Whitefish, but is only open Wednesday-Sunday for day skiing.
