Flathead County
Flathead County is located in the state of Montana. The county has a total area of 13,614 sq. km (5,256 sq. mi). 13,205 km² (5,098 mi²) of it is land and 410 km² (158 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 3.01% water.
As of 2000, the population of Flathead County was 74,471, with 29,588 households, and 20,415 families residing in the county. The population density is 6/km² (15/mi²).
The racial makeup of the county is 96.26% White, 0.15% Black, 1.15% Native American, 0.46% Asian, 0.06% Pacific Islander, 0.41% from other races, and 1.50% from two or more races. 1.42% of the population are Hispanic.
There are 29,588 households out of which 32.50% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.90% are married couples living together, 8.30% have a female householder with no husband present, and 31.00% are non-families. 25.20% of all households are made up of individuals and 8.90% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.48 and the average family size is 2.97.
